Pricing

To field a survey with The Social Study, researchers must pay a fee per respondent (a panelist who has completed the survey module). The fee varies depending on the length (in minutes) of the survey module researchers wish to field.

Researchers can submit modules with a duration of 5, 10 or 15 minutes. The pricing is as follows:

  • 5 minutes: €15 per respondent
  • 10 minutes: €30 per respondent (Members get 10% discount: €27 per respondent)
  • 15 minutes: €45 per respondent (Members get 15% discount: €38,25 per respondent)

All mentioned prices are inclusive of VAT and overheads.

A discount is available for researchers affiliated with institutions that are members of the consortium of The Social Study, i.e. UCLouvain, Université Libre de Bruxelles, Université de Liège, Université de Mons, Université de Namur, KU Leuven, Universiteit Gent, Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Universiteit Antwerpen and Universiteit Hasselt.

We have a panel of over 5000 people, yielding more than 4000 survey responses on average, thanks to an 80% completion rate. We accommodate surveys among the entire panel or specific subsets, either by region of residence (Flanders/Wallonia/Brussels) or panelists’ language (Dutch/French).

Requests for a smaller random subsample of the panel (minimum 25% of the panel) can be discussed directly with us to see how and whether they can be accommodated. Please contact surveymanagement@thesocialstudy.be to discuss your proposal.

Note on the cost for fielding a survey with TSS

The budget of The Social Study is partially supported by research grants received by FWO-Flanders, F.R.S.-FNRS, and Statistics Flanders. However, these grants do not cover all operational costs, such as respondents incentives, postal surveys for offliners, staff, and online panel infrastructure. To ensure the continuation of The Social Study, we request a financial contribution from researchers fielding a survey with our panel.

Additionally, we encourage researchers to check whether their survey questions are already included in our extensive database of core variables, which is freely accessible to all researchers and can be easily linked. Using this core data can often help reduce the length of the survey module.
